The celebration was preceded by a seminar on global challenges that the international society of the Supreme Audit Institutions is facing. Speeches on this issue were held i.a. by the Auditor General of Norway (Per-Kristian Foss), Auditor General of the USA (Gene Dodaro), Auditor General of Uganda (John F.S. Muwanga), President of the European Accounting Office (Vitor Caldeira), Director General of the INTOSAI Development Initiative (Einar Gorrissen) and the former Auditors General of Norway (Jorgen Kosmo i Bjarne Mork-Eiden). The ceremonies were, moreover, attended by the Auditor General of Estonia, Auditor General of Finland, Auditor General of Island, Auditor General of Latvia, Auditor General of Lithuania, Auditor General of Macedonia, Auditor General of Sweden, Controller and Auditor General of Tanzania, President of the State Audit Institution of the United Arab Emirates, as well as representatives of the French and Danish SAIs and many Norwegian public administration bodies.
The seminar also included a presentation on the results of audits concerning the environmental protection and removal of radioactive substances, which were conducted by SAI Sweden and SAI Russia.
At the end of the meeting a movie presenting auditors from various European countries singing ”Happy Birthday” was showed. Poles also provided their input. Norwegians are liked and respected for their willingness to help countries in need of support.
The Office of the Auditor General of Norway is particularly involved in building capacities of other SAIs. Therefore, the Office cooperates at the international stage, both globally (INTOSAI) and regionally (EUROSAI). Aid projects for other countries are based on the idea that without independent and properly functioning SAIs, it is not possible to fight corruption and offences. Norway is a very important partner for Poland in the scope of launching various aid programmes (the so called Norwegian mechanism).
The Office of the Auditor General also specialises in the audit of budget revenues from the oil and gas extraction. In this case Norwegians also share their knowledge and audit methodology with SAIs of other states, i.a. the African countries.
