Last month the President of NIK announced an audit of how well public entities are prepared to act in face of a real threat of epidemics. The audit is in progress now. Since the beginning of February, the auditors have been checking if the healthcare system in Poland is ready to act in case some particularly dangerous and highly infectious diseases are confirmed. At the moment the audit is being carried out in selected entities, according to the plan. Considering the dynamic situation related to the coronavirus COVID-19, NIK auditors have been obtaining information on an ongoing basis, also from entities related to the transport and treatment of persons suspected of being infected with the new coronavirus. NIK will provide the audit results right after the procedure is finished.
Due to the coronavirus occurrence in Europe NIK, President Marian Banaś already of January decided to start the reconnaissance audit in that area. Since the beginning of February, the auditors have been checking if the healthcare system is ready to act in case some particularly dangerous and highly infectious diseases are confirmed.
The audit comprises all the key elements of the system of protection against threats of this type. It has been conducted in all the planned entities.
