On 27-28 October, representatives of 28 Supreme Audit Institutions from all over the world, including NIK President Marian Banaś, took part in the 78th Meeting of the Governing Board of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) in Cairo.
The Supreme Audit Office, as a EUROSAI representative, is serving its second term in the Governing Board of INTOSAI of which it has been part since 1959.
As many as 102 participants from 28 Supreme Audit Institutions, including NIK President Marian Banaś, took part in the two-day meeting which resulted in accepting 39 requests presented by the Governing Board of INTOSAI and its bodies.

The 78th Meeting of the Governing Board of INTOSAI was opened by the Chairman, Minister Bruno Dantas who is closing his term as the Head of the Brazilian TCU in December this year.
The Chairman emphasised significance of the international cooperation in the light of auditing public funds and thanked the member SAIs for their commitment. He used the opportunity to recap his term and introduce his successor, Minister Vital do Rêgo, to the international community. During the opening, also the First Vice-Chairman of the Governing Board of INTOSAI and this year’s host of the meeting, Head of the SAI of Egypt Mohamed El-Faisal Youssef took the floor.
Minister Bruno Dantas presented a report on key activities taken by INTOSAI under the chairmanship of Brazil, including the initiatives ClimateScanner and JuriSAI, in which NIK participated in 2024 and the rebranding of INTOSAI aimed at strengthening its position in the international arena.

In the course of the meeting the Chairs of individual INTOSAI Committees discussed reports on the implementation of strategic goals. A roundtable debate was held addressing current challenges of the Regional Organisations and the cooperation with INTOSAI. The point of departure for the discussion was the report: „Navigating global trends. Future implications for Supreme Audit Institutions”, prepared by the Supervisory Committee on Emerging Issues (SCEI). The Regional Organisations, including AFROSAI, ARABOSAI, ASOSAI and EUROSAI, paid special attention to the following issues: digital transformation of governments and societies, growing inequalities, global migration, climate change and erosion of trust in institutions.

The Meeting of the Governing Board of INTOSAI was also an opportunity for a short bilateral meeting of the President of NIK and the Head of the SAI of Egypt. Both leaders exchanged courtesies and underlined their hope for tightening cooperation between the two institutions. NIK President invited Mohamed El-Faisal Youssef to visit NIK in the second quarter of 2025 on the occasion of the planned 18th Meeting of the INTOSAI Working Group on the Fight Against Corruption and Money Laundering – WGFACML), chaired by the SAI of Egypt.
Bruno Dantas closed the meeting together with the Second Vice-Chairman of the Governing Board of INTOSAI, Head of the SAI of Saudi Arabia Dr. Hussam Abdulmohsen Alangari. Minister Dantas expressed his hope for continued success and intensification of INTOSAI activities in the future.
