NIK reappointed as Interpol’s external auditor for another 3 years

Let’s remember that in 2021 NIK won the worldwide competition and replaced the Canadian SAI in that function. In the past three years, the external audit of Interpol was carried out by a team of NIK professionals, selected from over a thousand of state auditors.

During the 92nd session of the General Assembly of Interpol, held in Glasgow on 4-8 November 2024, decision was taken to extend cooperation with NIK until 2027.

The reappointment of NIK was determined, among others, by the audit independence and objectivism guaranteed in the Polish Constitution and NIK’s compliance with International Standards of Supreme Audits Institutions (ISSAIs). Other reasons included: professional approach of NIK’s team, documentation security and over 100 years’ experience in auditing as well as experience related to the auditing of international organisations.

Continuing cooperation with such an important global organisation confirms that the Supreme Audit Office of Poland is a trustworthy, professional and reliable partner.

The International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) deals, among others, with fighting terrorism, organised and drug crime. The General Assembly of Interpol is the highest managing body of Interpol and is made up of delegates appointed by the governments of 187 member states. It takes any decisions related to the organisation’s policy, finances, methods of operation and its activities.

To date NIK has been an external auditor of the Council of Europe, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
