The NIK President took part in the 11th Public Procurement Knowledge Exchange Forum in Batumi. In cooperation with the SAIs of the USA and Georgia NIK organised a panel, being part of the conference, dedicated to specific audit experience in this area. The Poles emphasised first of all that a well-supervised public procurement system should be a vital element of an open and transparent process of public spending. The point of this process is to spend public funds in a way ensuring top-quality services to the public. According to NIK this is a proper perspective in supervising and monitoring the public procurement system in a democratic state.

Representatives of many other organisations presented their experience, legal provisions and national case studies during the forum. The organisations were among others: OECD, SIGMA, UNCITRAL, SAIs of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, INTOSAI (Task Force on Procurement Contract Audit), and ministries from Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia.
The 11th Knowledge Exchange Forum in Batumi is yet another project where NIK cooperates with the World Bank. Numerous initiatives taken by the World Bank Group focus on supporting the most needy countries. The Poles are beneficiaries of these activities but more and more often they help other counties themselves. NIK cooperates with the World Bank in auditing the Odra River flood protection project and road safety in Poland. Besides, the Polish SAI has got involved in the promotion of public administration standards and modern state audit in Azerbaijan, Iraq and Kirgizstan (the collaboration includes among others study visits and exchange of experts in selected areas).
Apart from attending the forum, NIK President held meetings in the State Audit Office of Georgia with which NIK signed the Memorandum of Understanding in 2014 and for which it runs the twinning project, together with the SAI of Germany.
