At the meeting, Jacek Jezierski, the President of the NIK and simultaneously the Chair of the EUROSAI Governing Board, summarised the activities of the Organisation realised so far. This year, the most important issues were those related to the implementation of the EUROSAI Presidency programme for 2008-2011 and the works on the EUROSAI strategic plan.
The strategy of EUROSAI for the years 2011-2017 is one of the key initiatives of the NIK. The new strategy is to be the first document of the kind in the history of the Organisation, setting out four main goals. The works on the strategic plan are almost complete. The dokument will be officially presented at the 8th EUROSAI Congress to be organised in 2011 in Lisbon (read more on the EUROSAI strategic plan).
Seminars dedicated to INTOSAI auditing standards and audits of social programmes for professional integration of the disabled on the labour market have proved interesting to representatives of European audit institutions. Mutual exchange of experience has provided an interesting source of information for the participants in the seminars, while as many as twelve European SAIs have been participating in the international audit on the employment of the disabled in the public sector. The audit has been initiated and coordinated by the NIK. Its results will be presented at the 8th EUROSAI Congress in Lisbon.
Meetings of the EUROSAI Governing Board are also great opportunity to reflect on activities undertaken. The Governing Board has got acquainted with reports on the activity of EUROSAI as a whole, with the works of the EUROSAI Training Committee (ETC) and with the achievements of individual working groups. The issues related to EUROSAI finances in 2009 have been also discussed.
