It is becoming a growing challenge for auditors not so much to gather new data as to use the ones already gathered, often in large quantities. NIK suggested to its European partners setting up an internet platform so as to provide an easier access to the data on IT audits and streamline their analysis. Thanks to the cooperation of public auditors, among others from Estonia, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia and Switzerland the e-GOV platform has been launched and is now available in the internet.
Paweł Banaś invites all to use the e-Government platform
The key objective of the project authors has been to develop an international base of knowledge. It is supposed to include mainly audit reports with the initial analysis of their contents but also presentations or examples of the most common mistakes made by auditors. The Dutch, Estonian and Swiss partners have already delivered the first data. Their reports deal with the causes of failures of IT projects and the network security control.
One of the main priorities of the project is to make the data placed in the database clear and understandable. Since the e-Government platform is of international nature the whole database is made in English. The authors of this internet tool are also working on a an attractive and user-friendly interface. There is still a lot to do in this area. ”The most important thing is that the project is available and that it’s already working” - says Paweł Banaś who has taken part in the works of the international team from the very beginning.
The e-Government project has been implemented as part of EUROSAI. NIK underlines, however, that it is ready to cooperate with all institutions dealing with control and auditing. ”More and more people show their interest in IT issues and IT auditing” - says Banaś. That is why, the data being part of the database are available for all.
