The President of the ECA offered NIK and other Supreme Audit Institutions of the EU member states to join a cooperative audit. It is to verify effectiveness of the use of the EU funds by the member states. Its key objective will be to analyse and evaluate consistency between the Strategy of Europe 2020, partnership agreements and operational programmes for 2014-2020. Together with the ECA, NIK would also verify if the partnership agreements and operational programmes for 2014-2020 are focused on performance achieved by the EU member states.
NIK President expressed his satisfaction with the ECA’s proposal. Krzysztof Kwiatkowski attended in Luxembourg the first meeting of the newly established EUROSAI Working Group on the Audit of Funds Allocated to Disasters and Catastrophes (transformed from the Task Force into a permanent WG during the latest EUROSAI Congress). The Group’s Chair is the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine. The meeting in Luxembourg was attended by representatives of sixteen Supreme Audit Institutions and the European Court of Auditors.
The European Court of Auditors is the EU institution based in Luxembourg. The main task of the ECA is to audit the accounts and the budget execution of the European Union. The ECA has 28 members, one from each member state, appointed by the EU Council for a six-year term. The Polish member of the ECA has been - since May 2010 - Augustyn Kubik.
