ECA’s training on EU funds auditing

On 8-9 February 2010, experts from the European Court of Auditors (ECA) trained NIK auditors on the methodology of EU funds auditing. The training entitled Methods Used by the European Court of Auditors in Conducting Audits of the European Union Funds was aimed at extending the knowledge of NIK auditors on the audits carried out by the ECA.

Every year, the ECA conducts about ten audits in Poland. According to the Treaty Establishing the European Community, the NIK is obliged to cooperate with the ECA during such audits and NIK auditors participate in them as observers. To make cooperation in this area more effective, ECA auditors share their knowledge and experience with our auditors, and with this aim occasional trainings are organised.

This year’s training conducted by ECA representatives (including Jacek Uczkiewicz, Member of the ECA from Poland) introduced NIK auditors to audit methodology and audit procedures of the ECA, which differ from those applied at the NIK. The training also allowed for exchanging practical information related to auditing.
