EUROSAI seminar on auditing of social programmes

EUROSAI seminar on auditing social programmes for professional integration of the disabledThe seminar was organized in cooperation with the European Institute of Public Administration - the European Centre for Public Financial Management (EIPA Warsaw) which contributed with expert knowledge.

The seminar was a tailor-made activity for audit practitioners from EUROSAI Member SAIs involved in auditing of social programmes.

The objective of the seminar was to discuss the experiences of EUROSAI Member SAIs and to provide the participants with a ‘step by step’ approach that they can use in delivering performance studies and reporting on their findings.

The decision to organise the seminar was inspired by the document Kraków Conclusions and Recommendations, adopted by the 7th EUROSAI Congress held in Kraków in June 2008. Recommendation 4 of the document, which concerns Theme III of the Congress (Audit of Social Programmes for Professional Integration of the Disabled) reads: ”In developing national approaches SAIs should take full advantage of the opportunity to benefit from sharing the knowledge and experience already gained by EUROSAI colleagues”.

The NIK has decided to address this Recommendation during its term as the EUROSAI Presidency and to offer a package of activities in this respect. This package covers a seminar and a parallel audit dedicated to employment of disabled persons in the public sector. These are two separate undertakings, but they are related to each other. The seminar was also attended by a few SAIs which did not participate in the parallel audit project.
