On 15 March 2013 the Chairman of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine, Roman Maguta paid a visit to NIK. The Heads of both institutions talked about cooperative audits conducted by their SAIs.
It has been established at the meeting that NIK will take part in several joint initiatives. The first audit will deal with nature reserves. The second one will be a follow-up audit during which implementation of recommendations from the previous audit Protection of the Bug River Basin will be verified.
Besides, the parties underlined the importance of mutual cooperation in terms of exchange of knowledge and experience. It has been agreed that it will focus on issues related to ISSAI implementation, performance audit and quality assurance. Training programmes, seminars and experts panels will be organised on specified dates.
It is worth mentioning that both NIK and the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine have jointly taken part in international audits many times. Only in 2012, both sides were involved in several international audits, e.g. concerning preparations for EURO 2012, use of funds for flood protection and liquidation of flood consequences, national parks and biofuels.
