The number of SAIs participating in those cooperative international audits varied from two to almost twenty. In the case of such international initiatives, auditors from the involved SAIs conduct parallel audits in their countries, and the findings of individual national audits are assembled in a joint international audit report.
Preparations for the organisation of the EURO 2012 Football Championship is the subject of a series of audits carried out by the NIK and the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine. The first audit was conducted in 2008, the second in late 2009 and early 2010, while the third at the end of 2010 and at the beginning of 2011. The last fourth audit in the field is scheduled for the end of 2011. Auditors of the two countries work independently, in accordance with their own audit programmes. Each audit is concluded with a separate joint audit report that provides information on how the preparations for EURO 2011 are progressing.
At the EUROSAI Congress in Lisbon, to start on Monday, 30 May 2011, a joint report on the audit of programmes and measures aimed to increase the employment of disabled persons will be signed. The SAIs of thirteen countries examined how their states realise such programmes or measures. The findings of audits will allow for assessing the effectiveness of these forms of support for the disabled.
In mid-December 2010, in the NIK Headquarters in Warsaw, the Heads of the SAIs of Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia signed a joint report on the audit of the epizootic safety. This trilateral audit was aimed to check whether Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia are appropriately prepared for cases of infectious animal diseases outbreaks. At the meeting in Warsaw, the representatives of the three SAIs emphasised advantages of cooperative audits that provide an excellent opportunity for knowledge and experience sharing.

As for the other three international audits conducted by the NIK in 2010, the first was related to EU environmental programmes, the second to climate change, and the third to costs and benefits of structural funds auditing. The results of the first and second audits have been already announced, while the findings of the third audit will be published in autumn at the Contact Committee meeting.
