The Heads of the SAIs of the Visegrad Group, Austria and Slovenia (V4+2) have been gathering every year since 2002. This year’s meeting was hosted by the Supreme Audit Office of Slovakia.
The conference was dedicated, in the first place, to the activities of the SAIs at a time of financial and economic crisis. The SAIs make every effort to support governments in their fight against the crisis through conducting transparent audits based on clearly defined criteria, assessment methods, findings and recommendations. While examining the financial policy of the state in a difficult economic situation, the SAIs should pay attention to the state’s activities as a whole rather than to its individual tools. These are two main conclusions of the meeting.
The Heads of the SAIs of V4+2 intend to develop collaboration between their institutions. At the meeting, a decision was taken to organise a seminar on the role of the SAIs in corruption fighting, to be held in Ljubljana in April 2011. Another meeting is also planned dedicated to the activities of the SAIs’press officers.
In Slovakia, the representatives of the Supreme Audit Office of Poland presented the participants with information on the amendments to the Act on the NIK and discussed the works on the draft EUROSAI Strategic Plan undertaken within the NIK’s presidency of EUROSAI.
The next meeting of the Heads of the V4+2 SAIs will be organised in 2011 in the Czech Republic.
