NIK on railway traffic safety

60 percent of railway lines and 30 percent of junctions operate only on condition that trains limit their speed.

PKP PLK removes breakdowns with a significant delay of 8 to 24 months. That is why, instead of safety procedures involving the use of state-of-the-art equipment, emergency procedures (e.g. alternative signals) are used on a long-term basis which provide the lowest-level protection from accidents.

PKP PLK does not exercise proper care in terms of safety management audits. If there are any audits carried out, implementation of post-audit recommendations prolongs and lasts from 7 to 18 months.

NIK will present its full report on the railway safety at the end of May 2013. As part of the same control, various PKP group companies were given different ratings in terms of safety procedures. PKP PLK received a negative rating but PKP Intercity - positive with irregularities.
