NIK on the purchase of LRAD by the Police

NIK negatively evaluates the way the National Police Headquarters prepared and made the purchase of Long Range Acoustic Devices (LRAD) equipped with the module sending high-frequency signals which was intentionally ordered by the buyer. The Polish law does not allow for using high frequencies as a means of coercion.

NIK confirms that the Police effectively deactivated the module which sends such signals. Yet, spending the tax payers’ money to purchase devices not allowed by the Polish law has been negatively evaluated by NIK.
