The Constitution of the Republic of Poland guarantees the right to equal pay for equal work to women and men. This principle is set out in detail by Article 18 of the Labour Code. However, in Poland there is no system of obligatory monitoring of pay levels for women and men. At the same time, the statistical research made by the Central Statistical Office (GUS) in 2010 show that the differences between pays of men and women performing comparable work reach 18 percent.
Jolanta Stawska on the planned audit of NIK
At the request of Agnieszka Kozłowska-Rajewicz, Government Plenipotentiary for Equal Treatment, President of NIK Jacek Jezierski resolved to carry out a broad audit concerning the right to equal remuneration in the public sector in Poland.
NIK has started the audit with itself. The quantitative analysis of pays of the NIK auditors did not reveal any significant pay gap. Women at NIK are slightly better off with 1.25 percent higher pays than men.
