Peer review

The peer review is a tool which Supreme Audit Institutions use with increasing willingness in their work. Evaluation made by other SAIs contributes to a better quality of work of these bodies. NIK experts have taken part in such reviews a few times already. In 2012, at the request of the Supreme Audit Office, an international team of auditors conducted a peer review at NIK.

Specialists from the Supreme Audit Institutions of Austria, Denmark, Lithuania and the Netherlands screened the entire audit process of the Polish SAI. Their evaluation was based on the international auditing standards defined by INTOSAI (ISSAI) and good auditing practices. NIK was appreciated among others for the way of communicating with the public. At the same time, the peer review team pointed out that communication with the auditees and post-audit documents should be more transparent and comprehensible.
