The audit of preparations for the Euro 2012 tournament was a huge and complex undertaking. It took as long as 4 years. In that period NIK regularly audited the same tasks, systematically comparing the progress of organisers. The auditors had to tackle many different issues. They evaluated among others the way Poland is promoted, as well as infrastructure and condition of border crossings and security in our country.

NIK regularly published results of its audits. Subsequent reports attracted growing interest of the public opinion. ”That was a specific audit for the whole Poland and a part of Europe were tensely waiting for its results. Everybody was wondering if our country would make it before the tournament” - says Grzegorz Buczyński, Director of the Department of Science, Education and National Heritage. ”It’s worth mentioning that at the time when our country was appointed co-organiser of EURO 2012 we didn’t have a single stadium that would meet UEFA standards.”
The Russian Federation has one more year to get ready for the Winter Olympics in Sochi. ”Your experience is very valuable for us. Thank you for sharing it with us.” - says Angelika Zadorozhnaya from the Russian Accounts Chamber.
