NIK auditors have focused on the Regional Operational Programme for the Pomorskie Region (RPO WP) for the years 2007-2013 which is financed from the European Regional Development Fund. This is the largest development programme that has been ever realised in the region. The NIK has verified whether the authorities of the region responsible for the management of the programme perform their tasks in an efficient and effective manner. The NIK has also checked whether the process of project selection is based on approved criteria and whether audits of projects realisation are being carried out.
Simultaneously, auditors from the Rigsrevisionen have examined how Danish institutions deal with similar environmental projects co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund.
The two audits, Polish and Danish alike, have been planned in detail, from the list of issues subject to audit, to the schedule of the joint activities.
The results of the audit will be known by the end of the year. The findings of the two audits will be presented in a joint report.
Parallel audit - the same issues are audited at the same time by at least two Supreme Audit Institutions of different states in the areas of their countries. A parallel audit is conducted in accordance with jointly agreed principles and indicators, which allows for comparing audit findings later on. Each SAI which participates in a parallel audit carries out audit activities in accordance with its legislation and procedures.
