Audits conducted by NIK to date show that speed cameras have not always been set up in the places chosen based on analyses of traffic accidents, collisions and incidents threatening the security of drivers and passers-by. Some locations were chosen based on the budget income plans of local governments. This is a very bad habit which resulted in installing speed cameras regardless of traffic accidents or collisions.
Photo radars are needed if they result in increased safety on the road. Thus, NIK will also verify if the speed cameras that were set up a few years ago have contributed to a smaller number of collisions and accidents.
