Last year the Regional Branch of NIK in Wrocław completed an audit on the use of public funds for flood protection and liquidation of consequences of the flood of 2009-2010. The Polish audit is part of an international audit concerning protection against natural disasters and elimination of their consequences. The work results of NIK auditors were presented during the 5th meeting of the EUROSAI Task Force on the Audit of Funds Allocated to Disasters and Catastrophes which was held at the end of March in Sophia. The issues of water pollution and fires were also addressed there. The meeting participants also discussed selected environmental audits.
The joint report will also include audit results from Azerbaijan, Belorussia, Hungary, Italy, Kazakhstan, Moldavia, Russian Federation and Ukraine. The document will be signed by the heads of all SAIs taking part in the audit during the 9th EUROSAI Congress to be held in the Netherlands.
