8th Congress of the European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) will be held at the turn of May and June 2011 in Lisbon. The Congress is the supreme body of EUROSAI. At the meeting in Lisbon, the Congress is to adopt the first strategic plan in the history of the Organisation, which sets objectives and activities for the coming years.
At the beginning of April, members of the EUROSAI Strategic Plan Task Force met in Kraków to discuss participation of EUROSAI members in the implementation of the new strategy, whose final draft had been already elaborated. The authors of the strategy are aware that the success of the undertaking will depend on the engagement of individual European Supreme Audit Institutions.
In March 2011, all 50 EUROSAI members received a questionnaire in which they declared their potential involvement in the implementation of particular strategic goals. Over a half of those surveyed (56 percent) indicated their willingness to participate in concrete activities. In accordance with the new strategy, teams will be appointed that will be directly responsible for the implementation of particular goals. Thanks to the information collected via the questionnaire, both EUROSAI Governing Board and future goal chairs will be able to establish structures to effectively implement the new goals.
