The key objective of the meeting was to present competencies of both institutions and propose possible forms of cooperation between UOKiK and NIK.
Both parties agreed they should act together in terms of information exchange, training as well as joint education and information activities addressed to participants of the public procurement system.
NIK will use UOKiK analyses to highlight areas requiring special attention of NIK auditors due to the risk of possible breaches of the competition law, such as price fixing which results in too high investment costs. Besides, the President of NIK suggested that in justified cases UOKiK address NIK with a request for ad hoc audits, particularly of the areas with high risk of tender fixing.
The cooperation of both institutions will also involve regional branches.
NIK President proposed to establish a working team including among others representatives of NIK and UOKiK. The team would be responsible for drafting changes in the law which defines the functioning of the public procurement system.
