Chairman of the Belarusian SAI visited NIK

Geographical location of Poland and Belarus makes the Polish-Belarusian cross-border cooperation inevitable. The agreement was concluded between NIK and the Belarusian SAI mainly to continue the cooperation via joint parallel audits. According to the document both SAIs will cooperate to train their employees and strengthen their skills. Heads of SAIs will also meet annually.

In 2015 NIK, the Belarusian SAI and the SAI of Ukraine jointly audited the protection of Bug catchment area from pollution. NIK positively assessed the fact that the Polish National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management provided the Belarusian side with financial aid to modernise the wastewater treatment plant in Brest, in order to decrease the environmental threat for the Bug catchment waters.

In April 2017 a meeting of the EUROSAI Working Group on the Audit of Funds Allocated to Disasters and Catastrophes took place in Rome. The audit participants - heads of the Belarusian, Polish and Ukrainian SAIs - officially signed the final report concerning the international audit of the protection of Bug rivers against pollution.

Belarusian representatives also visited the Polish State Forests. Participants of the meeting discussed issues related to the protection of forests and mitigating the results of natural disasters. Both delegations were interested in the timber sale system implemented at the State Forests. Guests were informed on the forest and timber portal and the online auction system available in the e-timber application.

State Control Committee of Belarus is a members of the EUROSAI on Environmental Audit and the EUROSAI Working Group on the Audit of Funds Allocated to Disasters and Catastrophes.

In the future NIK and the Belarusian SAI plan to conduct audits aimed to assess how to increase the tourist exchange between both countries.
