Debate on resocialisation [experts panel]

NIK representatives showed their greatest interest in the following questions:

  1. What does the readaptation of convicts look like in Poland? Is the adopted resocialisation model effective? What is needed for this model to be effective? What steps need to be taken to get closer to the model resocialisation scheme?
  2. What resocialisation measures are proposed in penitentiary units for convicts with mental disorders (including sexual ones), also addicted to drugs and alcohol? What steps are or may be taken to make such persons undergo individual or group therapy? What are the forecasts for persons who take attempts at social readaptation?
  3. In what way could the heads of penitentiary units identify convicts who give no hope for resocialisation and at the same time are so dangerous that they have to be put in the National Centre for the Prevention of Dissocial Behaviours.
  4. What do the plan and programme of work with convicts in the centre look like?
  5. How do other countries manage the problem of persons with mental disorders (in particular personality disorder or sexual preference disorder) who are dangerous for other people given the readaptation measures taken to date proved ineffective?
