Pursuant to the Act on NIK, the external audit in the field of budget execution and finance management of the Supreme Audit Office is commissioned by the Speaker of the Sejm at least once in 3 years. The external audit comprises the period following the period covered by the last audit. The previous audit dealt with the years 2008-2010.
In its final opinion the external auditor - operating at the request of the Speaker of the Sejm - made the following statements:
- annual report on budget execution of the Supreme Audit Office for the years 2011, 2012 and 2013 was adequate and reliable;
- NIK’s conduct was consistent with the law in the following aspects:
- charging and gathering public funds,
- public spending,
- awarding public procurements and paying back public funds;
- NIK acted in line with the principles of sound management, efficacy and integrity in the following aspects: public spending, public procurement and proper use of resources;
- finance management and processes mentioned in items 1-3 were adequate.
