The Polish Supreme Audit Office and the Bundesrechnungshof have cooperated closely for many years now. Both institutions have been active in the Governing Board of EUROSAI (the German SAI held the presidency of EUROSAI in the years 2005-2008 and NIK chaired EUROSAI from 2008 to 2011). They also conduct the rotational external audit of the Multinational Corps Northeast in Szczecin. Pursuant to the agreement signed in 2001, the audit is carried out by the Supreme Audit Institutions of Poland, Denmark and Germany which rotate every three years. The Germans also cooperate with the Poles in the implementation of the twinning project in Georgia which has recently signed the association agreement with the European Union.
During his visit to Poland, Kay Scheller visited the Museum of the Warsaw Uprising, laid flowers at the Insurgents’ Monument and met with the Speaker of the Sejm Radosław Sikorski.
The Budesrechnungshof, like NIK, is strongly involved in international cooperation. The BRH is the auditor of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, EUMETSAT and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO).
