Indo-Polish cooperation at NIK

Mr Prasenjit Mukherjee, Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General of India, participated in the seminar. He was accompanied by top level auditors that specialise in the methodology of the state budget audit. The President of NIK, Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, opened the meeting.

Key auditors from Poland and India met to exchange experience

At the two-day seminar experts from Poland and India thoroughly analysed the budget audit methodology. It is the most major, most involving audit conducted by the Office and constitutes a source of independent and objective information on the execution of the state budget by the government.

Budget audits are very complex and combine elements of both financial and performance audits. They are conducted in compliance with the methodological provisions in force - national and international standards.

A separate information is drawn up after the audit of the execution of each budget part - about 400 in total. The entire budget execution is presented in a final summary report. While performing a statutory duty the President of NIK annually presents this document, the Analysis of the state budget execution and implementation of the monetary policy objective, to the Sejm.

Since the first Indo-Polish seminar that took place in India in 2000 the meetings have been organised in turns in both countries. The last joint seminar in India in 2015 was dedicated to IT auditing.

The Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India has 136 regional offices and in February 2014 employed almost 48 thousand persons. NIK employees participated in various seminars organised by the Indian government within the programme of technical and economic cooperation for government institutions, public sector, universities and Supreme Audit Institutions.
