One of the key questions of each state audit institution is to what extent its proposals are put into practice. NIK takes a wide range of actions to ensure effective implementation of its post-audit recommendations. Though, at the end of the day it is the auditees that decide whether to implement the public auditors’ proposals or not. It is similar in case of ECA (European counterpart of NIK) and EU institutions. A question arises, then, to what extent the findings, conclusions and recommendations of public auditors are really put into effect?
Jacek Uczkiewicz on the European Parliament initiative
An interesting initiative has been taken recently by the European Parliament which moved to itself to add a chapter to the annual report on the European Commission activity. The new chapter would show in what scope the Commission has implemented the ECA recommendations. “This initiative may substantially improve effectiveness of putting the ECA auditors’ recommendations into practice.” – comments Vice-President of NIK Jacek Uczkiewicz.
Will the Polish Parliament take this direction?
