NIK at the INTOSAI Congress

The 21st INTOSAI Congress started on Tuesday and will finish on Saturday. Public auditors from all over the world are debating on how their audits may contribute to a better state management as well as to the safety and balance in the financial policies of all countries.

The first topic is an answer to changes that are currently going on in the economy and economics. According to the new INTOSAI strategy for 2011-2016, the key focus should be on the promotion of transparency, accountability, good governance and fight against corruption. The second topic of the meeting is related to joint efforts of all Supreme Audit Institutions in terms of sustainable development. The care about economic growth and technology development should go together with sensitive social policy, efficient health care and well-organised education. Each of these issues is of interest to public auditors.

Next to the American and British SAIs, NIK also takes part in the works of the INTOSAI Professional Standards Committee which is to review the ”Code of Ethics” as part of ISSAI 30.
