The recently launched project Strengthening the institutional and administrative capacity of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan (CoA) is financed by means of the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument of the European Union. It will based on a systematic exchange of experience between NIK and CoA. Polish state audit experts will participate in over 50 missions conducted in course of 27 months.
The Azerbaijani Ambassador, Hasan Hasanov Aziz oglu, visited NIK in order to discuss organizational details of the initiated cooperation with President Krzysztof Kwiatkowski and the Polish project leader, NIK Vice-President Wojciech Kutyła. Participants of the meeting discussed the most important matters concerning the project - expert visits, possible organisational improvements and the best methods of support for Azerbaijani auditors. Both sides stressed that the project is based on partnership and its goal will be achieved by pointing out differences between the twin institutions and suggesting solutions that worked out in Poland.
The cooperation between NIK and CoA was initiated in 2013, when the Azerbaijani auditors paid a study visit at NIK regarding the audits of CERN, the World Bank projects, public debt and infrastructure. In 2016 Chairman of the Azerbaijani Chamber of Accounts visited Poland. Later in 2016 NIK submitted an offer to conduct the twinning project at the Azerbaijani SAI. In early 2017 the twinning offer of NIK was presented in Baku. In June 2017 representatives of NIK and CoA met to confirm the arrangements. The twinning project was officially launched in November 2017.
Hasan Hasanov Aziz oglu - Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Poland, appointed on 30 March 2010. Mr Hasanov is fluent in Azerbaijani, Russian, Turkish and Georgian. Since 1990 he has held the following positions: Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Deputy to National Assembly of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani Ambassador to Hungary. In 1992-1993 he established and worked in the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan Republic to UN in New York City.
