NIK in Georgia

The European Commission with its Delegation in Tbilisi resolved to appoint the German and Polish consortium to implement the twinning project of which beneficiary will be the SAO of Georgia. The project duration will be two years. NIK is responsible for the financial audit, whereas BRH will deal with the management strengthening in the SAO of Georgia and professional development. The project budget - EUR 1.17 million is financed in total from the EU funds.

The kick-off of the twinning cooperation is the main reason why NIK President Krzysztof Kwiatkowski has come to Georgia. He has already participated in the project opening in the headquarters of the Georgian SAO in Tbilisi. The meeting was attended, among others by the management of the SAO of Georgia, representatives of the EC Delegation in Tbilisi, employees of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Georgia and the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Tbilisi. The main themes presented at the meeting included objectives and tasks of the twinning project.

President Kwiatkowski has also signed the Memorandum of Understanding between NIK and the SAO of Georgia. Both institutions will exchange their experience in terms of modern auditing standards and solutions concerning management of a Supreme Audit Institution. On part of Georgia the Memorandum was signed by the Auditor General of Georgia Lasha Tordia.

Cooperation between Poland and Georgia, as well as legal and legislative issues were the subject of discussion of NIK President Krzysztof Kwiatkowski and Tea Tsulukiani, Minister of Justice of Georgia.

During the visit to Tbilisi, NIK President also laid flowers at the monument of the late President of Poland Lech Kaczyński (also President of NIK from 1992 to 1995), and at the monument of heroes fallen in the fight for territorial integrity of Georgia.
