NIK on investments in flood areas

Municipalities do not take effective measures to protect their inhabitants before the consequences of floods. The NIK audit revealed, though, that local governments did not limit development of areas at risk of flooding. The construction permits mostly did not include information on flood risk on the planned investment area. In most cases the local land use plans also lacked such information – only one tenth of areas threatened by flood were included and described there.
