Krzysztof Kwiatkowski was deeply saddened by the tragic events in Turkey and Egypt. He expressed his sincerest compassion and solidarity with the heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions of Turkey and Egypt, and assured that in this difficult hour the Polish people stand at the side of our Turkish and Egyptian friends.
We hope that the attacks did neither directly hit any employee of the Turkish and Egyptian SAIs nor their families.
Both NIK and the Accountability State Authority of Egypt are members of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions INTOSAI (NIK as a representative of EUROSAI and the Egyptian SAI as a representative of AFROSAI). The Polish and Egyptian SAIs cooperated within the INTOSAI Working Group on the Fight Against Corruption and Money Laundering and prepared, under chairmanship of the Supreme Audit Office of Poland, guidelines GOV 1960. They concern the strengthening of good governance as well as counteracting corruption and will be in force in 190 countries.
The Turkish Court of Accounts will host the next Congress of the European Organisation of the Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI), and will at the same time become the Chair of EUROSAI’s Governing Board for 2017-2020. NIK and the Turkish SAI closely cooperate in many structures of the Organisation (also within its Governing Board). In 2015 when the Turkish Court of Accounts was undergoing organisational changes (among others the establishment of regional offices), its President paid a visit at NIK, during which he was informed on the Polish substantive and organizational solutions concerning the activity of NIK regional branches.
