Power safety of the state

Providing power safety is one of the state’s elementary objectives. At present, nearly 95 percent of electric and heat energy in Poland comes from coal and lignite. The power policy adopted by Poland assumes no significant changes in the coming years as regards types and relation of the use of resources to the power production. To guarantee uninterrupted supplies of energy, the system of fuel reserves accumulated by power stations and power and heat plants has to operate efficiently. Andrzej Sowiński from the Department of Economy, Public Assets and Privatisation elaborates on the results of the NIK audit concerning that system.
