During their conversation, the two SAI leaders exchanged experience with regard to capacity building assistance provided to other SAIs. President of NIK presented NIK’s support for the SAIs of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldavia, and thanked Mr Dodaro for the training support provided for NIK auditors in the 1990s during fellowship programmes at GAO. Mr. Dodaro and President Kwiatkowski touched on how SAIs can better support SAIs in the region.
President Kwiatkowski thanked Mr Dodaro for the valuable contribution of GAO experts in the projects in which NIK is also involved: in the update of the IT audit handbook, where NIK expert Paweł Banaś is co-author, and the revision of the INTOSAI Code of Ethics ISSAI 30 which was adopted by the Governing Board and the Congress.
The conversation between the Heads of the SAIs of USA and Poland included also their collaboration in the forum of the INTOSAI Governing Board, where NIK represents the European region.
President of NIK invited Auditor General Gene Dodaro to visit Poland.
