Speaker of the Senate Bogdan Borusewicz decided that the Senate start works on implementing law changes pointed by NIK in its audit reports. For a start, the Senate Committees will handle the proposals to change the law related to the audit on acquiring and processing data from phone records. According to NIK, it is for the benefit of the public the law should be amended in that area. Secondly, the senators decided to change the legislation following the audit on the protection of homeless animals. President Kwiatkowski recalled in the conversation with the Speaker of the Senate that one of his priorities is to boost the percentage of proposals to change the law (de lege ferenda) which NIK formulates in its reports. In the past years the legislative and executive authorities have implemented in whole or in part about 25 percent of NIK’s proposals of legislative changes.
