On 13 February 2014, during the commemoration of the 72nd anniversary of giving an order by the Commander-in-Chief to transform the Union for Armed Struggle into the Home Army, President of the Supreme Audit Office Krzysztof Kwiatkowski and Vice-President Marian Cichosz were decorated for their merits for the World Association of Home Army Soldiers.
The World Association of Home Army Soldiers has operated since 1989. It gathers members of the Home Army and other armed organisations subordinated to the Polish Government-in-exile during the war. It also includes soldiers who continued to fight for independence after the Home Army was dissolved.
In the early nineties, the Association gathered above 80 thousand members. Today there are only 10 thousand of them.
